Four five-letter words, one keyboard. Every guess lands on all four boards. Pick a mode from Chill (12 tries) to Extreme (8), daily or unlimited.
Everyone gets the same words in today's four-word puzzle, one set per mode: Classic (9 guesses), Chill (12), Extreme (8), Rescue (7 of your own under 2 computer rows) and Sequence (10). Unlimited gives you a fresh set whenever you want more. Ready for eight? Try Octo Wordle.
How to play
- Type a five-letter word from the word list and press Enter. The same guess is scored on all four boards at once, so one word can be green on one board and grey on another. The line above the keyboard counts your guesses left.
- Green: right letter, right spot. Yellow: in the word, wrong spot. Grey: not in that word. Repeated letters work like Wordle: greens are marked first, then yellows only for as many copies as the answer has. Each key is split into four quadrants, one per board, and a quadrant only ever gets better (grey, then yellow, then green).
- A board stops taking guesses on the row you solve it: it dims and its header shows a check and the guess number ("Board 2 · solved in 5"). You win only when all four are solved within your guesses. Run out and every answer is shown.
- Pick a mode: Classic gives you 9 guesses. Chill gives 12 with the same everyday answer words. Extreme gives 8 and draws answers from the full dictionary, so they may be rare. Rescue has 9 rows: the top two are random computer guesses that solve nothing, and the other 7 are yours. Only your 7 count in the result, so a win reads like 5/7. Sequence gives 10 guesses. Every guess is scored on all four boards, but you only see the first unsolved one; solve it and the next board opens with all your earlier guesses already scored on it.
- Stuck? Hint shows one correct letter on the first unsolved board, as a faint green letter in your current row (for example "Board 2: 4th letter is T"). You get 3 per game and each one costs 100 points.
- Daily gives everyone the same four words per mode and counts toward your day streak; hints you use are saved with it. Unlimited gives a fresh puzzle each time; the link in the address bar reopens that exact puzzle. The archive under the keyboard lists the last 30 daily puzzles.
| Mode | Your guesses | Answer pool | Twist |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic | 9 | Everyday words | None |
| Chill | 12 | Everyday words | Extra guesses, same everyday words |
| Extreme | 8 | Full dictionary | Full dictionary, including rare words |
| Rescue | 7 | Everyday words | 9 rows: 2 computer guesses fill the top, 7 are yours |
| Sequence | 10 | Everyday words | One board at a time, earlier guesses replay on the next |
Scoring
Every solved board is worth 250 points. If you win, each guess you did not need adds 50. Each hint takes off 100, and the score never drops below 0. Stars: three for a win with at least 3 guesses to spare and no hints, two for a win with at most one hint, one for any other win, none for a loss.
Example: all four boards in 6 of 9 Classic guesses with no hints is 4 × 250 + 3 × 50 = 1,150 points and three stars. The same win with two hints is 950 points and one star. A loss with two boards solved still scores 500.
Tips
- Spend your first two guesses on ten different common letters (CRANE then SPILT, say) before trying to solve anything. Information carries across all four boards.
- Solve the board that's closest first. A finished board stops competing for your guesses.
- Read the keyboard quadrants, not just the boards. A letter grey in all four corners is dead everywhere.
- Save hints for the last board. A hint costs 100 points, but an unused guess on a win is only worth 50, so one hint that saves two guesses breaks even.
Questions people ask
How many guesses do I get?
It depends on the mode: Classic 9, Chill 12, Extreme 8, Rescue 7 (plus the 2 computer rows above them, 9 rows in all), Sequence 10. Four is the minimum needed to solve all boards.
How do hints work?
Each hint reveals one letter in its correct spot on the first board you have not solved, skipping spots that are already green. You get 3 per game. They lower your points and your stars, and the result card and share text show how many you used.
Do streaks and stats carry between modes?
No. Each mode keeps its own played count, win rate, guess distribution, day streak (consecutive daily puzzles solved) and win streak (consecutive wins, any puzzle). Everything stays in your browser.
Can I play a puzzle I missed?
Yes. Open the "Past 30 daily puzzles" list under the keyboard. Archive games count as wins or losses in your stats but don't extend your day streak.
